The Executive Director (ED) is directly accountable to the Board of Directors and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day and directing the operations in a manner that reflects the long-term strategic focus of the organization, its programs, and employees. The position is the primary communicator with the Board of Directors, which acts in a governance capacity.

The Executive Director recommends and implements Board-approved policy and direction and is directly responsible for the overall development and delivery of all agency programs, initiatives, and activities. The new Executive Director will display an executive presence of humble confidence, entrepreneurial thinking, and a creative growth mindset as they interact with external stakeholders, including granters, funders, private donors, government agencies, and partners. This presence will further frame and set the internal leadership culture of Work Prep, providing an engaging and motivating purpose and path for all Work Prep team members to embrace and use to guide day-to-day decision-making and client interactions. This individual will be a big-picture thinker and work diligently to maintain Work Prep’s reputation as a leader within the community and within the industry across Canada.

As a successful candidate, you will be a strategic thinker with a proven ability to, in consultation with others, innovate programs and solutions that anticipate and meet the needs of the ever-changing economy and labor market. A respected leader, you are highly skilled in mentoring, coaching and motivating a dedicated team who is committed to making a difference, possess strong relationship-building qualities, and exceptional written and verbal communication that reflect a skillful approach to persuading and influencing for mutual benefit. You see navigating and managing concurrent priorities as an exciting challenge that you thrive in, and you are adept at moving agendas forward in a multi-stakeholder environment. You are known for your ability to develop credibility, trust, and effective working relationships with executive boards, employees, and external stakeholders. Last but not least, you are excited at the prospect of leading Work Prep through continued and innovative partnerships and see yourself as passionate about discovering the potential still to be untapped of this in the organization and the people it serves.
